Prince Harry recently travelled to London
Prince Harry has “made his bed” with the decisions and statements he has made in recent years, a source has suggested.
The Duke of Sussex recently travelled to England to attend a series of events in London. While he was only a couple of miles away from his father King Charles, Harry did not have a face-to-face meeting with the monarch.
A spokesman for the US-based royal said the King’s “full programme” during Harry’s trip prevented father and son from seeing each other.
Despite the missed opportunity, the Duke of Sussex is reportedly determined to rebuild the relationship with his father in the wake of a string of damaging statements, allegations and attacks made by both Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle following their exit from the working Royal Family.
The spokesman’s statement added the duke “hopes to see [the King] soon]”.
King Charles resumed public-facing engagements this month
On the other hand, King Charles remains fond of his second son but wants to “have peace”, a source has claimed.
They told the Mirror: “Harry’s made his bed. I’m an advocate for protecting your peace, and if this young man is bringing the drama, then good on King Charles for giving him the space he needs to grow.
“King Charles just wants to have his peace in his twilight years. He doesn’t want to argue.
The duke travelled to London this month to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games, the international multi-sports tournament for wounded and injured service men and women and veterans he launched in 2014.
Prince Harry was last in the UK in February, a whirlwind trip he carried out to visit his father only days after Buckingham Palace had announced the monarch had been diagnosed with cancer.
Despite undergoing cancer treatment, the King never stopped carrying out his constitutional duties.
Earlier this month, he resumed public-facing engagements after receiving the go-ahead from his medical team.
In June, the monarch is planning to travel to France to mark in person the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings. He will be accompanied by Prince William and Queen Camilla.
