THIS ARTICLE CONTAINS SPOILERS FOR X-Men ’97 EPISODE 6.

X-Men ’97 is not holding back and the show is only on its sixth episode. In the latest episode of the animated series, fans are finally greeted by Professor X who comes to screens with a shocking and NSFW revelation. While talking to Lilandra, Professor X says something that reveals that not only does he have an active s-x life, but also has one of the weirdest kinks out there.

Given the fact that X-Men ’97 is a show by Marvel Studios Animation, such a revelation has the show going into a lesser-explored territory. Let’s not forget that it took the Marvel Cinematic Universe thirteen years before it could show a s-x scene in one of its films – Eternals – even though it was quite PG-13.

Just six episodes in, the animated series has managed to kill off two popular characters, bring back a fan-favorite one, and make a groundbreaking revelation about him. After Professor X seemingly died in X-Men: The Animated Series, the revived version of the show brought him back and made sure that his return would be unforgettable.

In the sixth episode of the series, Lilandra and Xavier engage in an NSFW conversation, something which is quite different from what Kevin Feige’s Marvel Studios has shown on screen all these past years.

“Xavier: Your man speaks as if I am your pet… not an entirely displeasing thought.

Lilandra: Hush now, beloved, you may bark later.”

Well, that happened. Needless to say, the little scene has fans going crazy. Take a look at how some of them reacted after finding out about Xavier and Lilandra’s freaky bedroom rendezvous.

Clearly, Marvel Studios is advancing. Should this have happened in X-Men: The Animated Series, which was released in 1992, viewers would have lost their minds and not in a good way. However, the year is 2024 now and it looks like developments are in order.

It Took Marvel Studios 13 Years to Show its First Proper S-x Scene

Chloé Zhao’s Eternals saw MCU’s superheroes march into unexplored territory as they engaged in an intimate but brief moment. The s-x scene involved Gemma Chan’s Sersi and Richard Madden’s Ikaris, who was inspired by none other than Zack Snyder’s Superman in Man of Steel.

The scene marked MCU’s first real s-x scene about which Zhao told IndieWire,

“From that moment to what you see on-screen there was definitely a lot of discussion about how to do it. But I think the desire to do something different is a very natural desire for where Marvel Studios is right now. I think it’s like Westerns coming into the revisionist period of the ’70s. I think it’s happening to superhero films — or at least we’re on the edge of that. And so these scenes just started to happen naturally.”

X-Men ‘97 Episode 5 Made One of the Darkest Stories Even Much More Sinister – What’s Next for Magneto?
As for why the scene was crucial to Eternals’ plot, the Oscar-winning director stated,

“For us to be able to show two people who love each other, not just emotionally and intellectually but also physically, and to have a s-x scene that will be seen by a lot of people that shows their love and compassion and gentleness — I think it’s a really beautiful thing.”

X-Men ’97 creator Beau DeMayo would completely agree with Zhao’s point of view as he too seems to have a similar outlook on the topic.

Dude thank you. Absolutely this was intentional with Xavier and almost all the mains this season. X-Men is a soap opera and a big ingredient in that is sex.

Now, X-Men ’97 has made sure that it paves the way for future Marvel projects as the superhero universe gets ready to change with the times.
