To be a regular viewer of cable news shows is to understand that the lineups on those shows will change over time. Anyone who remembers when Tucker Carlson hosted a show on Fox News knows that firsthand. Recently, Fox viewers may have seen a rumor about another shakeup at the network.
The rumor suggests that Dana Perino’s days as a co-host on The Five might be through. Here’s what we know about what happened to Dana, and whether the rumor that she’s leaving the show is true.

What happened to Dana Perino?
In this case, the rumors that Dana is leaving the show are false. They are based on ads that first started running on Facebook in May 2024, which stated that Dana would be leaving the show over tensions between her and fellow Fox host Sean Hannity. In this case, though, no part of the story is true. If you’ve seen the ad or read the article associated with it, you should know that the information in both is entirely made up.
The article, which is hosted on freshdailydrive.com, said that Dana had announced that she would be leaving the show after creating a new line of CBD gummies.
The article claims that Dana unveiled “her new CBD line live on The Five. Sean Hannity was outraged and expressed his intention to sue Dana Perino and Fox for violating his contract and allegedly driving away sponsors.”
The article also quotes from an entirely fictitious statement from Dana.
“I understand that Sean is simply targeting my timeslot. I refuse to succumb to ‘Cancel Culture.’ When I embarked on this journey back in 2022, it was initially a part-time passion project and my way of giving back. Having received so much, I believed there was no better time to make Fortin CBD Gummies accessible to everyone, as it has the potential to help thousands of individuals live pain-free and happier lives,” the fake statement read.
The details in the article are a little ridiculous.
The fake article further claims that Dana has created “miracle gummies” with the ability to reverse dementia. It also claims that those gummies are both 90 percent cheaper and five times more effective than alternative remedies.
Scams suggesting that famous news figures have endorsed various CBD gummies have become increasingly common in recent weeks, and this news story about Dana seems to be an escalation of that trend.
What may seem to be an article about Dana’s decision to leave The Five is really promoting a new CBD gummy product. It’s an insidious campaign, and one based entirely on hooking people with fake information about their favorite TV personalities.
Regular viewers of The Five shouldn’t worry, though. There’s no indication that Dana, who previously served in the Bush administration, is going anywhere, and there’s been no suggestion of any real tension with Sean Hannity. The whole thing was, quite simply, made up, proving that you simply can’t trust everything you see on the internet.
