SHERRI Shepherd is just one of many celebrities hitting the gym hard this spring to battle the bulge during the countdown to summer.
According to one fitness expert, the Sherri talk show host has been outperforming Kim Kardashian’s expensive weightlifting efforts in the gym.

For months, Sherri, 56, has been charting her workout and weight loss efforts by sharing them on Instagram.
The daytime TV star lost around 60 pounds in 2020 and appears focused on keeping it off.
Sherri’s clips show her pacing herself through strenuous deadlifts, push-ups, and dumbbell sit-ups, to name a few.
She is seen wearing skintight workout clothes, and she sometimes wears a wig and makeup.
IFBB Pro female bodybuilder MayLa Ash said Sherri is working to “look sexy in her cute outfits.”
The former View host showed off toned abs and muscular arm in one clip while dressed in tight Nike compression shorts and a crop top.
“2024! Going in strong” she captioned her Instagram post.
“Sherri’s workout clips show her adjusting her workload to challenge her target muscles continuously,” MayLa told The U.S. Sun.
“This is progressive load training, and she uses challenging weight levels.
“People assume that if women train with a moderately heavy weight, they will become bulky or highly muscular.
“Sherri is developing good muscle tone, reshaping her body while not slimming down too much.
“Her shoulders are capping off, her arms are starting to tone up, and her legs are shapelier.
“Everyone wants to get their summertime sexy on and look sexy wearing their cute little outfits.
“I am sure this is Sherri’s goal since she has already lost a substantial amount of weight and looks great.”

SCARED STIFF
Many celebrities like Sherri might be heading to the gym more frequently to shape up in time for summer.
In the New Year, Kim Kardashian’s trainer, Senada Greca, shared clips of the Hulu star in her home gym in Calabasas.
“Lower Body Day — just a FEW clips from a Lower Body Workout Kim and I did last week,” Senada captioned her post.
Seven-time Olympian MayLa said Kim had been doing more of a maintenance program.
She claimed Sherri had followed a different path to the Hulu star.

“Kim was more of a maintenance program.
“To tone up and improve your shape without surgical assistance, you must lift weights.
“This will challenge the target body part beyond everyday life activity.”
BARE BONES
As reported by The U.S. Sun, Kim Kardashian started sharing her weight workouts with Greca in 2023.
“We lift weights for two hours daily and do five or six days a week. My goal was to gain muscle and be strong, and I see such a difference already,” Kim said then.
At the time, MayLa said the Skims founder’s concierge-level training sessions could cost between $2,500 and $7,500.
In the past, Kim has expressed pride over any weight loss.

“I’ve lost 20 pounds and I’m really proud of that. I was almost 140 forever and now I’m, like, 116 and it just feels good,” she told E! in 2018.
“I didn’t see results right away, but when you stick with something and you’re consistent, you will. So I love it,” she said.
MayLa claimed Kim’s expensive workouts have not progressed.
“Like Sherri, Kim was also posting videos showing her training with weights,” she said.

“Given the time she has been training, those 2023 videos did not convey a progressive nature to her program.
“If she were training consistently, her body would have adapted to her program within weeks.
“Her trainer should have increased her resistance levels so the program continues challenging her muscles.
“This is what is needed to tone up her body.
MayLa’s resistance workout tips
- Warm-up. Prevent muscle strain by stretching, aerobic activity, or light warm-up reps.
- Stay hydrated. Drink water while training. Muscle mass is made up of 75 percent water.
- Engage the muscle. Lift weights at a tempo that allows you to contract the target muscle.
- Work the entire muscle. Use a weight where you can perform a set using a full range of motion.
- Rest, then repeat. Rest for at least 60 seconds between sets to prevent premature muscle fatigue.
- Gradually increase. As training becomes easier, weight, reps, or sets increase.
- Release tightness. Briefly stretch muscles to ease muscle tension and reduce the risk of injury.

“If you carry a backpack that weighs 25 to 30 pounds but grab 10-pound dumbbells for squats, thinking you will tone up and reshape your legs, you are wasting time.

“Sherri’s videos also prove those beliefs not the case.”

Sherri has spoken about her weight loss journey, type 2 diabetes management, and commitment to healthy eating.
She told People that her diabetes diagnosis in 2007 sent her on her wellness journey.
“I began to understand the profound link between exercise and its impact on my mental well-being, particularly the release of endorphins,” she said.
“It illuminated the powerful mind-body connection that stems from regular exercise.”

PUSHING IT
“It is obvious that some of Sherri’s video clips promote her upcoming shows and public appearances,” MayLa added.
“She performed band-assisted pull-ups, then stopped in the middle of the exercises.
“She turned to the camera and told fans to come see her at one of her upcoming shows in a city near them.
“However, the other clips show snippets of a well-put-together workout, which is great.
“I admire her fitness journey because she found what works for her and has many reactions to what she does.
I do not think Kim wears makeup in the gym, but she does not push herself as hard as Sherri does.

“She does resistance training, yoga, and some other things.
“This variety helps reduce boredom and keeps the body guessing, allowing the body to improve itself constantly.
“Sherri also does come in there with her wig on, and sometimes not, as she has had the cute little skull cap.

“At the end of the day, she says being cute won’t help her health.
“I do not think Kim wears makeup in the gym, but she does not push herself as hard as Sherri does.”
