Prince Harry and Meghan Markle won’t have their titles stripped as the Royal Family have chosen to “ignore them and let them get on with it,” according to an expert.

Speculation has been growing as to whether the couple will have their titles removed, having stepped down as senior royals back in 2020. Over the years, they’ve grown apart from the Royal Family and currently live in Montecito, California, with their two children Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.

However, royal expert Ingrid Seward said Meghan and Harry’s titles are “here to stay”, as she explained Meghan would simply adopt a new title if they were removed. Ingrid explained: “I don’t think anything will happen to the titles.

“Because if they lose their titles, Harry is still a prince of the blood and Meghan instead of being the Duchess of Sussex, would be Princess Henry. That really would confuse the Americans.”

Speaking on The Royal Beat, Ingrid said it would look “unkind and unnecessary” if the Royal Family did strip Meghan and Harry of their Sussex titles. She suggested the royals are instead taking a different approach.

Ingrid explained: “I think the best thing is to leave them, ignore them, and let them get on with it – which is really what the Palace and the Royal Family are doing.”

When Meghan and Harry stepped down from the Royal Family, they kept their Duke and Duchess of Sussex titles, which were given to them by the late Queen Elizabeth on their wedding day. However, the pair had their HRH titles removed and Harry gave up his military titles.

Ingrid’s comments come after royal author Tom Quinn said King Charles and Prince William “have had lengthy discussions about stripping Meghan and Harry of their royal titles.” However, he said they are “terrified this would backfire and make the situation worse.”

Speaking to The Mirror, Tom added: “The last thing they want is to give the renegade royals something else to complain about. William and his father know that even without their Royal titles Meghan and Harry would carry on travelling the world as if they were royals and most people in the world will still welcome them.”
