While Chris Hemsworth might have doubts over his performance as Thor, Robert Downey Jr. knows how good Hemsworth is.

Chris Hemsworth is one of the biggest celebrities in the world and is best known for his performance as Thor in the MCU. While he has garnered widespread acclaim for his portrayal of the Norse God, the fourth Thor movie just didn’t live up to the previous films.

However, one below-expectation performance can not stop fans from showing their appreciation for Hemsworth’s role. This includes his fellow MCU colleague, the iconic Robert Downey Jr. who once had some words of compliments for the actor.

Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Hemsworth are two of the major actors who brought the MCU to where it stands now. Further, the mutual respect and admiration the two stars share is incredibly great to watch. As per Vanity Fair, Downey is all praise for the son of Odin.

Of all performances of Hemsworth as Thor, his arc during the time of Thor Ragnarok and Infinity War is counted among the greatest superhero stories ever. To fans’ delight, even Downey seems to think so. He called Hemsworth’s roles in Ragnarok, Infinity War, and Endgame “a formidable hat trick”. He also had praise for how the actor managed to bring such a complex character to the screen.

“First off, Thor as a character was super tricky to adapt—lots of implied limitations—but he and Ken Branagh figured out how to transcend, make him somehow relatable but godlike” “Hemsworth is, in my opinion, the most complex psyche out of all us Avengers. He’s got wit and gravitas, but also such restraint, fire, and gentleness.”

While viewers and RDJ have all become huge fans of Hemsworth in the MCU, the actor himself has now have some doubts on his portrayal of Thor in the recent movies.

In the interview with Vanity Fair, Chris Hemsworth opened up about his dissatisfaction with his portrayal of Thor in past movies. Hemsworth expressed feeling like he was turning into a parody of himself and not bringing anything new to the character. He also indicated that he felt that he was replaceable.

“I got caught up in the improv and the wackiness, and I became a parody of myself,” “I didn’t stick the landing.” “Sometimes I felt like a security guard for the team,” Hemsworth told Vanity Fair. “I would read everyone else’s lines, and go, Oh, they got way cooler stuff. They’re having more fun.”

While the actor expressed his disappointment in his recent portrayal of Thor, he also expressed his desire to return as the God of Thunder because he “owes the audience another Thor”.  Hemsworth is looking forward to his upcoming role in Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, which will be released in theatres on May 15, 2024.
