The San Francisco 49ers do not want to trade Brandon Aiyuk, but the Pittsburgh Steelers are interested in getting him.

The Steelers are once again rumored to be in on Aiyuk, and while no trade has been finalized, it does not mean they are not trying to make one happen behind the scenes.

In fact, the Steelers are reportedly desperate to add a legit wide receiver threat after making several moves at the quarterback position this offseason. That could lead them to secure Brandon Aiyuk.

The Steelers have pursued acquiring Aiyuk from the 49ers, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, as Pittsburgh is determined to pair George Pickens with a talented veteran wideout.

The big question is whether or not the 49ers are open to trading him, as Niners GM John Lynch has already gone on record to state that the team was “actively talking” with Aiyuk about a contract extension, but it doesn’t appear that much progress has been made with the start of the NFL Draft just over a week away, per The Athletic.

With Aiyuk possibly in the field, the Steelers would no longer need to draft a receiver and could use their picks for other positions.

Last month, San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk’s first tweet of 2024 saw him tagging Pittsburgh Steelers coach Mike Tomlin in a joke, but many saw it as a way to push for a trade.

This month, Aiyuk continued showing his displeasure by unfollowing the franchise on Instagram. Clearly, the long-term extension that he greatly covets has now come to fruition, and he’s lashing in a way to get it done or get him traded elsewhere where another team will give it to him.
