The behavior of Dallas Cowboys linebacker Micah Parsons is reportedly becoming a problem for some within the organization.
The soon-to-be 25-year-old Micah Parsons has emerged as one of the NFL’s elite defensive players since entering the NFL in 2021. Through 50 career games, Parsons already has 40.5 sacks, eight pass defenses, seven forced fumbles and four fumble recoveries.
According to Shan Shariff of 105.3 The Fan in Dallas, several people in the Cowboys’ organization believe Parsons “has worn thin” in Dallas. Interestingly, Shariff was also told that several people there would be pleased if Parsons wound up leaving the Cowboys down the road:
“I’ve heard from way too many people this offseason. I’m talking about at least four different people (have told me) that Micah has worn thin there. I don’t know how much is true and how much it actually hurts (his reputation). I don’t know whether this is the behavior of a typical superstar. I don’t how damaging it is. But all I do know is this – I’ve heard from way too many people that if Micah Parsons was out of there, there would be a decent amount of people inside the Ford Center at The Star in Frisco smiling or breathing a sigh of relief.”
There’s no clear indicator that Parsons is unhappy with the Cowboys, and that owner Jerry Jones is considering dealing his franchise star. Even if some in Dallas are unhappy with Parsons’ behavior, there’s no reason to believe that a trade is imminent.
But with Micah Parsons eligible for a contract extension this offseason, it’s certainly a situation worth monitoring. Aside from Parsons, star wide receiver CeeDee Lamb is also eligible for a new deal.
Quarterback Dak Prescott is entering the final year of the $160 million extension he signed back in 2021, but there’s also no indicator that the two sides are going to reach an agreement on a new deal any time soon.
Micah Parsons Would Fetch A Handsome Return In A Trade
If the Cowboys were to shop Parsons down the road, they would unquestionably receive a king’s ransom in return.
The Chicago Bears gave up two first-rounders as part of the deal to land Khalil Mack from the Oakland Raiders back in 2018. Considering Parsons ‘versatility and age (he turns 25 next month), it’s safe to say that Dallas would easily get at least two first-rounders in a possible trade.
But the Micah Parsons trade talk is for another day. Right now, Jones and the Cowboys have to stay focused on their goal of improving a roster that’s aiming to compete for a Super Bowl in 2024.
