The Kansas City Chiefs are going to be without a vast weapon to start the 2024 NFL season.

According to ESPN‘s Adam Schefter, Kansas City Chiefs WR Rashee Rice is expected to be disciplined by the NFL, resulting in at least a multi-game suspension.

The Kansas City Chiefs star wideout left the scene of a six-car accident on a Dallas highway and now faces charges for aggravated assault, collision involving serious bodily injury, and collision involving injury.

According to Schefter, Rice might face a “multi-game suspension,” which might lead the Chiefs to choose a wider receiver later this week in the NFL Draft. The Chiefs own the No. 32 pick going into this week’s draft and need to improve their offensive options.

The Super Bowl champion turned himself in to police earlier this month after it was claimed that he and another driver of a fast sports car were responsible for a collision on a Dallas highway in March that included six other vehicles.

The NFL usually allows legal processes to play out before dishing out league punishment, which means Rice may be on the field come Week 1, but he will certainly miss a few games due to actions off the field this offseason.

The 23-year-old Rashee Rice was named first-team All-AAC in 2022 for SMU and he was selected by the Chiefs in the second round with the No. 55 overall pick of the 2023 NFL Draft.

Last year, Rice appeared in 16 games for the Chiefs and caught 79 passes on 102 targets for 938 yards and seven touchdowns. Rice has 26 catches for 262 yards and has scored 1 touchdown in 4 games in the postseason.
