The Jacksonville Jaguars took the risk of allowing Calvin Ridley to hit free agency to save themselves a second-round draft pick, and it didn’t work out.

The star wide receiver is set to play in a Tennessee Titans uniform next season as the AFC team outbid the Jaguars to sign him to a $92 million deal.

There’s a chance they replace him with one of the best young receivers in the league, however, with a report claiming there’s “mutual” interest between them and San Francisco 49ers wideout Brandon Aiyuk.

Aiyuk is still contracted to the Niners and is heading into the final year of his rookie deal, but he’s made no secret of his desire to leave the team since their loss at Super Bowl 58 last month.

It’s led to a lot of trade speculation since February’s big game. Aiyuk is said to have followed multiple Jags players on Instagram since Ridley’s exit and team insider Mia O’Brien is reporting that there is interest on both sides.

Aiyuk had the best season of his career in 2023, making 75 catches for 1,342 yards and seven touchdowns in 16 games. However, he only made three catches for 49 yards in the Super Bowl, which left him very frustrated after losing to the Kansas City Chiefs.

“This is the exact reason why we leaving San Francisco,” his best friend wrote on Instagram after the Super Bowl. “Thank you 49ers for drafting my brother we are forever grateful. BA to Vegas. Why does your All Pro 1,300 yard receiver have three catches in the Super Bowl?”

The Niners picked up Aiyuk’s $14.2 million fifth-year option last year but could end up trading him if he insists he wants out, and Jacksonville may very well be his next destination.
