A recent tweet from the Queens-born rapper and television personality suggests that he’s moved on from his estranged wife, Tammy Rivera. The post has many fans questioning, could Waka Flocka be ready to debut his new flame?

Born Juaquin James Malphurs, the Atlanta-bred rapper the world came to know as Waka Flocka Flame’s love story with Tammy Rivera started in 2011. He recalled to the NY Post his first sighting of who he’d eventually choose to be his wife when the two happened to be in Miami simultaneously. Rivera, who was on vacation with some friends, was rocking a “peppermint dress… looking so good,” Waka said.

The “No Hands” rapper, who was in Miami for a club performance, also remembered the impact of Tammy Rivera’s “energy” along with her overall look. On the other hand, Rivera reflects on their happenstance meeting at a “classy place” in place of the club her friend initially intended for them to attend.

She recalled that within moments, “He told me I was going to be his wife the first time we met.” Three years later, on the 25th of May, Waka Flocka Flame and Tammy Rivera made it official and exchanged vows. However, there was no lavish ceremony. According to PEOPLE, Rivera preferred to have the wedding of her dreams when the couple embarked on their five-year mark.

True to their promise, Waka Flocka Flame and Tammy Rivera had a beautiful ceremony in 2019 to commemorate their vows. The couple renewed their vows in Mexico. “When God made Waka, he wrote my name beside his,” said Rivera to PEOPLE. Additionally, the rapper expressed that he “never knew what love was until [he] met Tammy.”

But that 2019 dream wedding honestly almost didn’t happen. In 2016, multiple reports stated that Tammy Rivera left Waka Flocka Flame due to incessant infidelity. “I was not playing,” she said to Essence in 2017. Rivera explained her decision to separate from her husband at the time was because he needed to show consistency.

Waka Flocka Flame was persistent in proving that he loved both Tammy Rivera and her daughter, Charlie, whom he helped co-parent. The rapper confessed to the NY Post that while he “always knew Tammy was the one, I just wanted to know how long I could have fun.” After that, however, he realized he needed to be away from his wife to “slow down” and reach the growth he eventually accomplished.

Six months after their 2016 separation, the couple reconciled. Their marriage was subjected to viewership from fans of Love and Hip Hop: Atlanta, Marriage Boot Camp, and their WE tv reality show Waka & Tammy: What The Flocka.

However, rumors of separation began to circulate around 2021. But confirmation wouldn’t come from the couple until March of 2022. During an Instagram Live, Tammy Rivera corroborated speculations that they were no longer together. However, she insisted that despite not being a couple any longer, all was well with them. She also affirmed that his relationship with her daughter is in excellent standing. During an interview with Raquel Harper, Waka also commented on their split, stating that Rivera is his “best friend.”

It’s been some months since confirmation hit the Internet, and Waka has posed a question that’s left fans wondering if he’s moved on. In a since-deleted tweet captured by The Shade Room, the rapper posed, “Am I wrong for hiding my girlfriend or smart for protecting real love?”

However, Waka Flocka hopped in the comments to seemingly clarify his tweet. “I was asking a question [it] was a typo,” he wrote. But judging by the fan reactions, Waka might want to hide that alleged girlfriend.

“Real loveeeeee ??? So what was Tammy? A test drive?” asked one fan. Another stated, “I can’t see him with nobody but Tammy so yeah hide her longer.”
“We don’t wanna see that gworl if it ain’t Tammy,” another fan insisted. Finally, one user states that whomever the “girlfriend” might be, “She ain’t got nun on Tammy.”
