The Princess of Wales will not be returning to work anytime soon despite recent confusion after her involvement in a landmark report published earlier this week, it has been claimed.

On Tuesday, it was reported that Princess Kate was “excited” after her business taskforce released a report which claimed that the UK could reap £45.5 billion in economic benefits if firms prioritise early childhood.

The news sparked hope about whether Princess Kate could return to public duties in the near future, which prompted Kensington Palace sources to make a clarification.

The Palace said that while Kate had been “kept fully up to date throughout the process” of producing the report, it “should not be seen as the Princess of Wales returning to work”.

They also added that the future Queen will only return to work once her doctors give her the “green light”.

Now people close to the royal have come out and stressed that she is currently focusing on “getting better”, while also suggesting that we might not see her again until the autumn, according to the Mail.

Its Diary Editor Richard Eden, wrote: “Friends I spoke to in the past few days suggest we might not see Catherine again until the autumn – and only then if she has recovered fully.”

The Princess of Wales has been absent from royal engagements since last December when she appeared with the rest of the Royal Family on Christmas Day.

A source said: “No one wants to put any pressure on Catherine. The only thing that matters at the moment is her getting better. She has been through an ordeal this year.

They added: “It’s a reflection of Her Royal Highness’s importance to the future of the Monarchy that she has been given as much time as she needs.”

Kate was diagnosed with an undisclosed type of cancer earlier this year and is currently undergoing preventative chemotherapy for it.

She announced the devastating news in an emotional video in March, saying the news came as a “huge shock” and has needed time to process the information and consider the best interests of the couple’s three young children, Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, eight, and Prince Louis, five.

In the video, the future Queen asked for “time, space and privacy”, while adding: “My work has always brought me a deep sense of joy and I look forward to being back when I am able, but for now I must focus on making a full recovery.”
