Members of the Royal Family may be laden with fancy names and grand titles – but it seems they love nothing better than giving each other cheeky nicknames, as Prince William showed…

Prince William had a legendary response when a fellow royal leaked his cheeky three-word nickname to the public.

The Prince of Wales naughty nickname was candidly revealed by none other than Mike Tindall, married to King Charles’ niece Zara Tindall, who it was joked landed in hot water for the slip-up. Despite their regal titles and formalities, it appears that the Royals are just like us when it comes to dishing out playful nicknames.

Former England rugby legand Mike disclosed William’s less-than-regal nickname and found himself in “so much trouble” as a result. The slip occurred during a special podcast episode recorded by Mike and Zara with Rugby League star Rob Burrow, who is battling Motor Neurone Disease.

In the midst of their conversation, which touched on whether they had any pet names for each other or other Royals including William, Kate, King Charles, or Queen Camilla, Mike let it slip.

Mike shared a laugh as he spoke about William: “For the Prince of Wales, he is known as ‘One Pint Willy’. He is known to me as One Pint Willy because he is not the best of drinkers, coming from a sport where it is built on the social aspect and a couple of beers being sunk quite often. That is one I will definitely give away for the Prince of Wales.”

But the fun didn’t last long as Zara, chuckling, gave her husband a heads-up: “Oh my god. You are in so much trouble,” reports the Mirror.

William responded by seeing the humorous side when he met Rob Burrow at Headingley Stadium in Leeds, where he presented Rob and his former teammate Kevin Sinfield with their CBEs for their incredible work raising funds and awareness for motor neurone disease. During the encounter, Rob mentioned the nicknames Mike Tindall had revealed on his podcast, which led to a light-hearted exchange with William.

The Prince chuckled and remarked: “It was you who got the nicknames out of him – he apologised to me about that. When I saw him, I said Mike, when you say you’re not going to mention your nicknames doesn’t mean you mention mine, it’s not fair’. I’m sure it’s quite fun with Mike.”

In recent weeks, William has taken a break from his Royal responsibilities as his wife, the Princess of Wales, battles cancer, diagnosed at the end of March. The type of cancer remains private, but Kate started preventative chemotherapy in late February.

Despite the challenges, she remains optimistic, feeling “well and getting stronger every day”.
