Prince Harry has made a huge step in his move away from the Royal Family, something one expert believes will leave Prince William feeling “hurt and disappointed.”
The Duke of Sussex has switched his residential status from the UK to the US in paperwork relating to his sustainable travel initiative, Travalyst. He was originally listed as residing in the UK when the organisation was set up four years ago.
The move comes amid Harry’s tense relationship with the Royal Family, with him currently being estranged from his brother. Relationship expert Louella Alderson believes the Prince of Wales might be upset over the “finality” of Harry’s decision.

Speaking exclusively to The Mirror, she said: “His relationships with the Royal Family do not appear to be a priority for Harry, as he focuses on building his new brand and career in the US. The finality of this decision could potentially cause Prince William and other members of the Royal Family to feel hurt and disappointed, but it may also provide clarity and closure for everyone involved.”
She added: “While Harry has been living in the US for four years, declaring it as his new usual residence officially feels like a subtle but sure way of establishing boundaries and creating a new identity separate from his royal duties. Harry’s relationships with his family are already strained and this step sends them a message that he is not planning to return to the UK anytime soon, if at all.”
Harry’s relationship with William worsened when he hit out at the Prince of Wales in his debut memoir Spare. In the book, the Duke of Sussex opened up about an explosive row he had with his brother.

During the fight, the Prince of Wales allegedly called Harry’s wife Meghan “difficult”, “rude” and “abrasive”. Harry claims his brother then “grabbed me by the collar, ripping my necklace, and he knocked me to the floor”.
Louella’s comments come as Harry is set to return to the UK in a matter of weeks, although it is currently unclear if he will reunite with any of his family. Harry is scheduled to speak at an event in London to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games.
The special service will take place in St. Paul’s Cathedral on May 8. It’s currently unclear if Meghan will join her husband at the event.
