NFL icon Peyton Manning appears to have leaked the name of the quarterback prospect drawing the most interest from his former team, the Denver Broncos.

The Broncos will be going into next season with a new starting QB, having traded Russell Wilson to the Pittsburgh Steelers earlier in the offseason. They also brought Zach Wilson in via a trade with the New York Jets this week, but they’re still keen on acquiring another signal-caller during the upcoming NFL Draft.

Manning seems to know the player the Broncos are targeting. Speaking during an appearance on ‘104.3 The Fan’, the former superstar QB revealed that the team is “very interested” in J.J. McCarthy.

McCarthy is one of the most-liked players set to enter the league this year, having helped the Michigan Wolverines win a national championship in January. He wasn’t initially expected to come off the board near the top of the first round, but things are pointing in that direction now.

Peyton Manning has also pointed out that McCarthy would love to play for Sean Payton, who has a reputation for getting the best out of his quarterbacks.

The Broncos head coach previously revealed that the team had a private workout with McCarthy.

I wasn’t at J.J.’s pro day, but we had a private (workout with him) the next day where we sent him a bunch of information, spent four or five hours with him, just made him throw all over again,” he said via 9NEWS during last month’s annual owners meeting. “I think it’s all part of the process. I think it can lead to a more efficient and effective decision.

In three seasons with the Wolverines, McCarthy recorded 6,226 passing yards, 632 rushing yards, and 59 total touchdowns.
