Singer Perrie Edwards has revealed what life behind the scenes with her young son Axel is like and how he’s left completely blown away when she gets ready for work

Perrie Edwards’ son Axel is always left blown away when she dresses in full glam.

The former Little Mix star, who is now branching out as a solo artist, has shared an insight into life at her home with Axel, two, just days after revealing she doesn’t live with her fiancé, Alex Oxlaide-Chamberlain. Perrie, 30, and Alex, also 30, spend time apart due to her music career and him playing football for Beşiktaş.

In a fresh update, the Forget About Us songstress has revealed that although Axel is only two, she has her work cut out with the little one as he’s already expressed an interest in the music industry. So much so that the little tot features on one of Perrie’s tracks from her upcoming solo album which is scheduled to be released later this year.

“Every morning, I get my glam for promo now I’m back in the swing of things and I’m not just looking rough every day,” she said, adding: “Normally I’m in my pyjamas all day and I don’t care, I love that. Me and Axel never really get dressed, if we’re not going anywhere, what’s the point?

“So I’ve been getting dressed and he’ll look at me and goes ‘Momma, you look beautiful’, and I’m like ‘Thank you’ and he goes ‘But your hair, it’s not like Elsa’. And he always wants me to put my hair to the side and plait it and make a big hair and he goes ‘And then, you flip it out and throw your clip in the ice castle and sing Let It Go’, he literally directs me.”

Speaking to Sam Thompson on Hits Radio in an exclusive clip shared with the Mirror, Perrie revealed that she received a text from her former bandmate Leigh-Anne Pinnock following the release of her first single. But her biggest critic is Axel who is “loving” his mum’s music.

She told Sam: “He loves my music, more so the song he features on, that’s his favourite. Gee, I wonder why. He loves the upbeat ones, he loves to dance and swing around in the studio and jump around. As soon as I play a ballad he’s like ‘No momma, not this, I want to dance’,” before revealing that the tot loves singing and is often sung to sleep.

Although Perrie hasn’t confirmed who her single is about, she admits the Ed Sheeran-written track concerns previous relationships and it’s “important” to learn from the experience. “It’s a building block for you,” she commented. She added: “I don’t think you should live in regret, I think you should look back on it and be like ‘You know what, that was a tough time in my life but thank you for making me in my life who I am now’.”

Perrie’s full interview with Sam Thompson is available tonight from 7pm on The Hits Radio Evening Show with Sam Thompson.
