This charge comes after Mahomes Sr.’s third DWI arrest earlier this year, just a week before the Super Bowl. According to Texas law, a third felony DWI conviction could lead to a prison sentence ranging from two to 10 years. Despite his involvement in celebrating his son’s Super Bowl victory, Mahomes Sr. has yet to publicly address his latest legal issues.

“A conviction for a third DWI will result in a prison sentence of no less than 2 years and no more than 10 years,” according to ProBible. “Even if probation is granted, all Defendants convicted of DWI 3rd or more in Texas are required to serve a minimum of ten days in jail as part of any plea agreement.”

Troubles with authorities
Authorities allege Mahomes Sr. showed signs of impairment during a routine traffic stop, admitting to consuming alcohol prior to driving. He was reportedly found with an open can of beer in his vehicle’s center console. “I don’t really want to get into it too much, but he’s doing good for whatever the situation is,” Mahomes said at the time.
