Prince Harry departed the Royal Family – and Britain – in 2020 when he and his wife Meghan Markle announced they would be stepping back from their duties as senior working royals. The couple now reside in Montecito, California with their two children, keeping their distance from the royals back in England.

The Sussexes have since been embroiled in a royal rift of sorts, with the couple’s frequent outspoken interviews and projects on their time within the royal fold further fuelling the rocky relationship they have with the Windsors.

And before Harry’s recent visit to Britain to attend a thanksgiving service for the Invictus Games at St Paul’s Cathedral, it was assumed that he would see his father but not William. It was then claimed his father was too busy to see him.

Commenting on the situation exclusively to The Mirror, royal expert and commentator Richard Fitzwilliams, has shared the only way he thinks Harry and Charles will reunite. Speaking to us in an exclusive chat, Mr Fitzwilliams spoke of how “relations are strained”, noting how it makes you “wonder when he will see his father next”.

He then offered: “The only chance of any progress being made in improving relations is surely to do so in private. If Harry would fly over and nobody would know or be told, some progress might actually be made.

“This is not the way the Sussexes are used to doing things, his appearance on Good Morning America after his last visit was unwise. He did not reveal what he and King Charles had said when they briefly saw each other but talked about how, during periods of ill-health, families tended to come together. However, if, for example he decided to wear his Coronation Medal, along with his others, it would send a positive signal to his father.”
