NFL Network reporter Colleen Wolfe has backtracked with an apology after making some curious claims regarding New York Jets owner Woody Johnson and head coach Robert Saleh.

While speaking on the ‘Around The NFL’ podcast earlier this week, Wolfe claimed to have heard rumblings of a “lively conversation” between Johnson and Saleh during the owners’ meetings, adding that things got heated between the two men to the point where it got awkward.

At the owner’s meetings, there was a very heated conversation between Woody and Robert Saleh,” she said, “to the point where it was a little awkward.”

Johnson, who owns a share of NFL Media, took to social media to call the Network out, branding the report “false” and “irresponsible.”

All this nonsense about a heated argument between Coach Saleh and me at the League Meeting is absolutely false,” he tweeted. “It is yet another irresponsible report from NFL Network.  Please disregard.

Wolfe has since taken to social media herself to apologize, explaining that she wasn’t actually in attendance, while others who were there have given a different description of the incident from the one her source gave her.

My intent wasn’t to break news, I leave that to the insiders,” she wrote. “My sincerest apologies to the Jets organization for the unnecessary distraction during such a crucial part of their offseason.

Another Reporter Has Refuted The Claims Made By Colleen Wolfe

Connor Hughes of SNY made claims to the contrary after the Colleen Wolfe report on Wednesday night. A beat reporter for the Jets, Hughes said he didn’t witness any tense interactions between the two men while at the event and cast doubt on the possibility of Saleh losing his cool with his boss around other NFL bigwigs.

The head coach is heading into his fourth season with the Jets, who have gone 18-33 with him in charge. Johnson is apparently keen on giving him another chance, considering that the team was without their starting quarterback for all of last season.
