NFL fans are losing their minds over the questionable Coach of the Year voting results, which saw Kevin Stefanski of the Cleveland Browns win the honors.

Per NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, Stefanski and Houston Texans head coach each finished with 165 points for Coach of the Year honors. Stefanski won the award, however, because he finished with one extra first-place vote (21 to 20).

Plenty of NFL fans were unhappy with the results, questioning why Stefanski won the honors over the rookie head coach in Houston:

Stefanski had to use four different starting quarterbacks to get the Browns to the postseason. His work with Joe Flacco, who only joined the team in November, certainly didn’t go unnoticed.

But there’s a case to be made that Ryans should have won the honors. The Browns were a popular pick to make the postseason, whereas Ryans was joining a Houston team that had 11 COMBINED wins from 2020 to 2022.

Not only did Ryans guide Houston to 10 wins and an AFC South division crown, but they also took down Stefanski’s Browns on Wild Card weekend.

Nonetheless, the award went to Stefanski by the slimmest of margins. The former Minnesota Vikings offensive coordinator also won the award in 2020 after leading the Browns to 11 wins and their first playoff berth in 18 years.
