Princess Eugenie is the member of the Royal Family who maintains a close friendship with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle

Prince Harry has been dealt a fresh blow as his “closest cousin” Princess Eugenie was seen supporting Prince William at a Buckingham Palace garden party on Tuesday.

Eugenie was joined by her older sister Princess Beatrice and their other cousins Peter Phillips and Zara Tindall as they supported the Prince of Wales, who held the fort without King Charles or Princess Kate by his side.

The York sisters appear to have remained fairly neutral in the feud between the Sussexes and the Firm, with Eugenie still on very good terms with Harry and Meghan Markle.

She paid a visit to their Montecito home when she was in California and sat chatting with Harry when he attended the King’s Coronation solo last May.

However neither her nor Beatrice attended the Invictus Games 10th anniversary service earlier this month which the Duke flew back to the UK for.

The group sheltered under umbrellas to protect them from the rain, but they still managed to wow with their fashion choices in the face of wet weather.

Eugenie wore a white maxi dress accessorised with a pink headpiece and a large bow with flowery detail, wearing her hair pulled back from her face and a pair of hoop earrings.

Meanwhile her sister Beatrice donned a crimson maxi dress with pearl detailing by Beulah London, which she teamed with nude heels and a cream headband.

One royal commentator has claimed that Beatrice and Eugenie avoided attending the Invictus Games service on May 8 as they wanted to avoid causing tension with the royals.

Richard Fitzwilliams told GB News: “They [Beatrice and Eugenie] would not have been expected to be there because that would have been a sign of a split in the Royal Family.

“You would have had royals there, some there and not others, that would have been seized on.”

The expert added that although the York sisters are still close to Harry, they would not have attended such an event without the permission of King Charles.

There has been speculation that Eugenie could be the “peacemaker” between Harry and the rest of the royals due to her friendships on both sides.

Former royal butler Grant Harrold said on behalf of Fruity Slots: “Eugenie is very close to William and Harry, she always has been, always will be.

“I’m sure that if she could, she would probably try to play peacekeeper with William and Harry, but it’s hard to say as we don’t know exactly what is going on behind closed doors.

“I’m sure if she can help, she probably would try and intervene between the two of them, if she can help bring the brothers back together, of course she would.

“She’s their cousin and she cares about them both deeply.”
