However, despite being synonymous with the X-Men franchise, Halle Berry’s role in the 2014 film X-Men: Days of Future Past was significantly reduced. Although Berry was initially supposed to feature prominently in the 2014 sequel, things changed. Surprisingly, fans couldn’t blame the studio for it.

Halle Berry’s Reduced Screentime in X-Men: Days of Future Past

After being at the forefront of the 2003 movie X2 and playing a significant role as Storm, in 2006’s X-Men: The Last Stand, Halle Berry returned to reprise her role, one last time, in X-Men: Days of Future Past. Since the X-Men franchise moved in a different direction, focusing on a younger version of the character, the 2014 sequel featured Berry as the older counterpart who was having a conversation with her younger version.

Joined by former X-Men stars, Halle Berry’s Storm was originally supposed to have a prominent role much like the others. However, a major portion of her screen time in X-Men: Days of Future Past was reduced. While this report undoubtedly infuriated fans, they unfortunately couldn’t blame the studio for it. Apparently, it was because of Berry’s unexpected pregnancy, which changed everything for her.

I wasn’t in [the movie] as much as I was meant to be. [Pregnancy] kind of colored what my involvement could be, which was why I was one of the first ones in and the first ones out.” Berry revealed via US Weekly.

According to reports, since pregnancy restricted Halle Berry’s physical performance, action scenes, stunts, and others, the studio was unfortunately forced to reduce her screen time.

Days of Future Past Became the Best Rated X-Men Movie

While shooting for the 2014 sequel X-Men: Days of Future Past, Halle Berry was expecting her second child (Maceo-Robert Martinez) with then-husband, Olivier Martinez. Therefore, as her pregnancy posed a challenge and obstructed her performance in the movie, Bryan Singer had to adjust the script and limit her screen time and involvement in action scenes to accommodate her condition.
