Meghan Markle has claimed that she would never be able to do the school run in the UK without it being a ‘royal photo call’ – but Princess Kate seems to prove her wrong

A claim Meghan Markle made about life in the UK appears to have been rubbished by Princess Kate’s actions.

After stepping back from Royal Family duties, Meghan and Prince Harry have settled in Montecito, California with their two young children.

Their son, Archie, is set to start school for the first time this year – something Meghan suggests would have been problematic if they had stayed in the UK.

In an interview with The Cut in August 2022, the Duchess opened up about their life in America.

Features writer Allison P. Davies quoted Meghan as saying: “Earlier in our conversation about her goals for the life she’s creating here, she’d remarked upon how, if Archie were in school in the UK, she’d never be able to do school pickup and drop-off without it being a royal photo call with a press pen of 40 people snapping pictures.”

“‘Sorry, I have a problem with that. That doesn’t make me obsessed with privacy. That makes me a strong and good parent protecting my child,’ Meghan said.

However, royal enthusiasts have pointed out that Meghan’s comments seem to clash with the regular appearances of William and Kate at their children’s school, reports the Mirror.

The Prince and Princess of Wales are known to drop off and pick up Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis whenever their schedules and health permit, and other parents have described them as ”like a normal mum and dad” at Lambrook events.

Princess Kate has temporarily withdrawn from Royal duties as she undergoes cancer treatment, focusing on recovery and quality time with her young children since revealing her health status earlier this year.

Hello! magazine reports that both Princess Kate and Prince William actively participate in all school events, even “queuing up” for the tombola during a fundraising initiative.

Insiders revealed in January that the day following Kate’s carol service at Westminster Abbey, the entire family attended the school Christmas fair, just as they had the previous year.

”I saw them queueing up for tombola tickets like everyone else. They really act like a normal mum and dad,” the source said at the time.

George, 10, Charlotte, 8, and Louis, 5, are in Years Six, Four, and One respectively at the Berkshire prep school.

“They’re lovely kids,” the source noted. “Charlotte is so kind and friendly and the other children adore her.

“She’s kind to the kids in younger years and she’s very popular. George seems like a nice boy, too, and little Louis just has so much energy.
“If William and Kate ever can’t make a sports match, their nanny goes along and spends most of the time running around the edge of the pitch after Louis. He’s a typical little energetic five-year-old.”
