The Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle has been described as “jealous” of her sister-in-law Princess Catherine’s bond with her husband Prince Harry, by a royal expert.
The Duke of Sussex and Princess Kate shared a close bond before Harry and his wife Meghan Markle were married in 2018 and prior to their decision to leave the Royal Family just two years later. It’s been claimed that Kate was the ‘sister Harry had longed for’ and before his relationship with Meghan, Harry was often seen with Prince William and Kate as a royal trio.
A royal expert claimed that Meghan was “incredibly envious” of the Princess of Wales and her life with Prince William in comparison to what she experienced.

Ingrid Seward, editor in chief of Majesty magazine and author of “My Mother and I” explained to The Telegraph: “I think that Meghan must have been incredibly envious and then jealous of Kate. I heard Meghan actually thought she was going to be a princess and live in Windsor Castle. Instead, there’s William and Kate with this beautiful house, while they are stuck in Nottingham Cottage, which Harry used to call ‘my hovel.'”
Harry and Meghan’s relationship with Kate has been strained in recent years, particularly in light of comments made in interviews, on their Netflix series, and in Harry’s 2023 autobiography Spare. His book caused a particular sore point between Harry and Kate, with the Duke revealing various incidents that saw Kate and Meghan fall out and didn’t appear to paint the Princess of Wales in a positive light.
Following the release of Spare in January 2023, it was said that Kate was taken aback by the attacks against her and other royals in the book and was not looking to forgive Harry and Meghan for their outspoken portrayal of royal life. In the book, Harry left no stone unturned as he dished on Kate’s tense and often strained relationship with his wife, including some of their most famous fallouts.

Prince Harry is said to be struggling with ‘regrets’ over speaking out so much against Kate and the royal family in his book, especially in light of Kate’s health update last month where as she revealed her doctors had discovered cancer.
Royal biographer Duncan Larcombe explained to New! magazine: “Bombshell news like Kate’s puts things into perspective and Harry isn’t immune from being filled with regrets and what-ifs. Kate was like the sister Harry never had and he is probably full of regret at how his relationship with her and William has collapsed so spectacularly.”
