Scarlett Johansson had to pay the price for her bold and strong personality by giving up her million-dollar, dream role. The movie in the talk is David Fincher’s $239 million thriller, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Despite working hard for the film’s auditions, Scarlett Johansson had to let go of the role as according to the makers, she was too se*y for the role. The opportunity finally landed on the outstanding Rooney Mara for the deeply intense role of a survivor of horrific emotional and sexual abuse.

Why Was Scarlett Johansson Denied Her Dream Role?

One of the most popular film adaptation of author Stieg Larsson’s novels is David Fincher’s 2011 crime thriller The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Scarlett Johansson, one of the most impressive actresses of her generation and would have made a fine Lisbeth Salander, but  despite auditioning and coming close for the part, Fincher ultimately decided to cast someone else. The major reason that floated for this loss was that Flincher believed that she was too s*xy to be Salander.

Flincher explained the reason saying, “the thing with Scarlett is, you can’t wait for her to take her clothes off.” However, Johansson also cited other reasons for the dismissal from her dream role. She said, “I really, really wanted that film because I felt I had something to contribute to it and I think Fincher just had a different vision for that character and Rooney Mara is, honestly, so perfect in it.”

Besides Johansson there are a bunch of other actresses who were a probable cast for the role but missed it form some or the other reason. Some of them are, Natalie Portman, Jennifer Lawrence, Elliot Page, Yolandi Visser, Kristen Stewart and many other. The franchise was eventually rebooted with 2018’s The Girl in the Spider’s Web. 

Scarlett Johansson Reveals Why She Is Not Present On The Social Media

In a candid conversation about social media, renowned actress Scarlett Johansson, discussed her absence from several social media platforms attributing it mainly to her fragility. Scar Jo admitted that she once joined Instagram for three days but then ended up deleting it after she got too immersed while looking at someone else’s posts.

Johansson shared, “I honestly am too fragile of a person to have social media,” Johansson said. “My ego is too fragile. I can’t deal with it. My brain is too fragile, I’m like a delicate flower. I have enough anxiety.”

However, the  two time Academy Award nominee admitted that at times she scrolls some social media, particularly TikTok, for her skincare brand The Outset, adding that she likes to make content like videos where she reads out customer reviews. She even recalled her liking for TikTok.
