The Fantastic Four remains one of the most iconic groups in the history of Marvel Comics, as their influence in the comic book universe is nothing to scoff at. That said, the same can’t be said about their iterations on the Silver Screen, as all films have been Box Office duds. That might change with the upcoming film based on the iconic group, as part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

As pointed out by Discussing Film on Twitter, Marvel has given free access to 5 comics to prepare for the Fantastic Four film. The comics are:

‘Fantastic Four #1’ (1961): This is the first issue of the Fantastic Four comic series, created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby. It introduces the superhero team consisting of Mr. Fantastic (Reed Richards), the Invisible Woman (Susan Storm), the Human Torch (Johnny Storm), and the Thing (Ben Grimm). The debut of the Fantastic Four marked the beginning of the Marvel Age of Comics.
‘Fantastic Four #48 – 50’ (First appearance of Galactus & Silver Surfer): These issues are notable for introducing two iconic characters in the Marvel Universe. Issue #48 features the first appearance of Galactus, a cosmic entity known as the devourer of worlds. Issue #49 marks the first appearance of the Silver Surfer, a herald of Galactus. These issues are considered classics and are highly sought after by collectors.

‘Fantastic Four: Life Story #1’ (2021): This is a more recent comic series that reimagines the history of the Fantastic Four within a real-world timeline. Each issue of “Life Story” covers a decade of the team’s existence, providing a unique perspective on their adventures and challenges. Issue #1 likely sets the stage for this retelling of the Fantastic Four’s story.

With this move, they are following in James Gunn’s footsteps who has always ensured fans are well-read on comics before any upcoming movie.

James Gunn is in direct control of Superman and is overseeing what will happen in the movie. A fan recently asked James Gunn on social media if he has watched Mr. Smith Goes to Washington and if Superman: Legacy will be similar to the movie.

James Gunn revealed that the storyline for Superman will be ”Exactly the same” as Mr. Smith Goes to Washington. In case you had no idea, Mr. Smith Goes to Washington is about a naive, newly appointed United States Senator who fights against government corruption, so that theme would certainly work for James Gunn’s film.

We will have to wait and see how the DCU will turn out once it finally debuts in 2025. Following the utter disaster that was the DCEU, there is a lot of apprehension about whether the DCU can be a success. With that said, James Gunn is a trustworthy name and has created magic with the MCU and Peacemaker already. Therefore, all fans can do is wait and see what James Gunn will do once the DCU begins in 2025.
