Love Island star Dr Alex George has issued another health update to his followers after spending days in and out of hospital following a worrying health issue

Love Island star Dr Alex George has shared an update after being rushed back to hospital for a second time.

The 33-year-old, who shot to fame back in 2018 during the fourth series of the ITV2 dating show, has spent days in and out of hospital. Earlier in the week he shared a selfie in a hospital gown as he revealed his tonsillitis got out of hand again. It came just mere days after leaving hospital for a fever and swelling.

Alex has since provided a further update as he admitted he is “feeling more like himself”. He is now back home and shared a photo with his beloved dog Rolo. The reality star said: “Glad to be home and feeling more like myself! Very much taking it easy, just so nice to enjoy simple things like a little walk with Rolo in the sunshine.

“Thanks for all the support over the last week or so, I feel very grateful. Now back to the sofa for some F1 and football binging. Have a lovely Sunday everyone x.” On Thursday, Alex had told fans his throat was “swelling up and getting worse”. “Spirit feels a bit broken writing this but sadly I had to come back to A&E this morning, throat was swelling up and getting worse”, he penned from A&E.

He assured his followers that his “breathing is ok but that’s always the big worry.” In another candid admission, he shared: “Really want to be positive but I haven’t slept in a week, hardly eaten with pain and fevers. I know there are so many worse off than me and I am doing my best to be grateful and positive.”

Alex thanked the staff taking care of him at London’s St Thomas’ Hospital and added: “The doctors and nurses have been so kind and caring, thank you. Just got to roll with punches now and I will be better soon.” Over the Easter weekend, Alex was rushed to hospital as he suffered from unbearable pains, swelling and a fever due to tonsillitis.

“So Easter didn’t go so well. I was hoping to do a March photo dump today but here we are”, he told fans. “Last few days I have had tonsillitis with fevers, but yesterday the swelling around my tonsil went crazy and the pain was very bad. I was hoping it wouldn’t get worse but at midnight last night, it was too much and could hardly swallow so I went to St Thomas A&E.”

Alex’s trip to hospital brought back old memories as he then admitted he had “nearly died of sepsis” several years ago. “If it were not for the incredible care of the doctors and nurses I wouldn’t be here”, he penned. The Love Islander was transferred to Guy’s Hospital in London and was discharged soon after. He was able to snap another picture as he gave a thumbs up.
