KEVIN Garnett retired from the NBA in 2016 – but he has been cashing checks from the Boston Celtics ever since.

The former NBA champion struck a deal with the Celtics during the height of his career that he would be paid $35million over seven years following his retirement.

Garnett earned an incredible $325million during his 21-year NBA career.

And he has been paid $5million a year through 2024 to ensure he would have a consistent income after retiring from the league.

It was a smart financial move for Garnett, who was drafted fifth overall in 1995 by the Minnesota Timberwolves and ultimately spent 14 years in Minneapolis across two stints.

His career also saw him spend six seasons with the Celtics, where he won his sole NBA Championship, and two more seasons with the Brooklyn Nets.

All in all, Garnett established himself as an all-time great, being named an All-Star 15 times, an All-Defensive First-teamer nine times, and MVP once.

In 2020, he was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame.

Garnett, 47, recently announced that his brand Big Ticket Sports is working with Pro League Network to launch 3×3 basketball league STR33T.

In an Instagram post shared by the new competition, it was described as: “A League featuring men, women and co-ed teams competing from some of the best streetball cities in the US.”

This marks the latest in a series of ventures by Garnett, seemingly looking to make sports more accessible.

Among Big Ticket Sports’ existing ventures is Hoop It Up 3X3, which Garnett described as “the world’s biggest three-on-three tournament.”

The brand also runs Kick It 3V3 Soccer, Let It Fly – World’s Largest 4 on 4 Flag Football Tour, Rock The Box 5 on 5 Lacrosse Tour, and Big Ticket eSports.
