King Charles is reportedly considering inviting Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to Balmoral Castle this summer, as the monarch is said to be ‘desperate’ to see his great-grandchildren

King Charles is reportedly planning to extend an olive branch to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle by inviting them for a major Royal get-together at Balmoral. He is said to be aiming to mend fractured familial ties and build stronger relationships with his grandchildren.

King Charles, at 75, has barely seen the Sussexes’ children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, since they were born and is said to be eager to share more moments with them.

A royal insider, said to be well-placed in royal circles, told Page Six: “I can see Charles desperately wanting to see the children, and extending this olive branch to Meghan and Harry. He may decide that life is just too short. Balmoral is truly the perfect, restful place for a reunion. If he does issue an invite, then Harry and Meghan should surely agree to the visit.”

Since their Royal exit in 2020, Harry and Meghan have only returned to the UK for select events, bringing their kids over just once – for the Platinum Jubilee, according to the Express.

Meghan hasn’t set foot in Blighty since the Queen’s state funeral in September 2022, making a conscious decision to skip the Coronation in May 2023.

And since causing controversy by dramatically walking away from royal duties, Harry and Meghan have gone on to make a series of harsh, bombshell claims about royal life in high-profile interviews – including with megastar Oprah Winfrey – and in in their brutal Netflix docuseries, Harry & Meghan.

Although Harry shows interest in mending fences with his family, especially after learning of King Charles and Princess Kate’s cancer battle, his spouse understandably bears more reservations.

The Sussexes are still settled in Montecito, California after being ushered out of their UK residence, Frogmore Cottage last year.

Despite the ongoing feud between the Firm and the Sussexes following Harry and Meghan’s Royal exit, the Duke made a solitary flight to the United Kingdom for a secret meeting with his father in February once word of his diagnosis was revealed.

Although the private encounter at Clarence House only lasted half an hour, it ignited hopes of more family get-togethers this year.

During a conversation on Good Morning America after his visit, Prince Harry expressed his intention to return to the UK for professional commitments and wished to catch up with his father whenever possible.

A St Paul’s Cathedral service on May 8, marking the Invictus Games’ decade-long journey, could very well be the reason for Harry and Meghan’s next trip to London. Expectations run high that Archie and Lilibet might accompany their parents.

According to New magazine, a source revealed plans for a family celebration on May 6, Archie’s fifth birthday. The idea was to fly privately to the UK the very next day and keep the kids under wraps at a secret location where they could meet their extended family.

Nevertheless, Meghan reportedly has concerns over the safety of her children, with the insider specifying: “It’s now got to the point where Meghan doesn’t want to come to the UK with the children. She just doesn’t feel safe. The situation is now about whether the family should attend with increased security or Harry should go it alone.”
