The royal rift and strained relationship between Prince Harry and his brother Prince William and father King Charles is still tense, with a royal expert claiming William and Charles are ‘ignoring’ Harry

Prince Harry is being ‘frozen out’ of the royal family by King Charles and Prince William, according to a royal author.

The relationship between Harry and his royal relatives has been strained in recent years, ever since he and his wife Meghan Markle stepped back from the royal family in 2020. After controversial comments and admissions in interviews and Harry’s 2023 autobiography ‘Spare’, the relationship between Harry and the royal family has seemingly deteriorated further.

Now a royal expert has claimed that King Charles and Prince William are ‘ignoring’ Harry, whilst they face huge challenges including the King and Princess Kate’s ongoing battles with cancer.

Christopher Andersen, author of The King: The Life of Charles III, told Fox News Digital : “[Charles and William] have chosen to ignore Harry, to freeze him out, and to not let him get under their skin when they are facing so many critical challenges. In a way, I think that is even sadder. It’s been said that hate isn’t the opposite of love – indifference is.”

He also claimed that King Charles and Prince William are “not surprised” that Harry made his recent trip to Nigeria, which has been likened to that of a royal tour alongside his wife Meghan. Yet Andersen claimed that Charles and William have “crossed Harry off their list for a plethora of reasons, but making a brief trip with one reporter and one photographer in tow isn’t one of them”.

It seems the relationship between Harry and his father is also still strained, as Harry’s visit to the UK earlier this month saw him celebrate a decade of the Invictus Games but without meeting any of his royal relatives. Whilst Harry attended a celebration at St Paul’s Cathedral, his father was meeting members of the public at a Buckingham Palace garden party. The Duke’s spokesman said Charles’ “full programme” of engagement prevented them meeting face to face, meaning they have not physically spoken to each other since Harry visited his father following his cancer diagnosis earlier this year.

Getty Images)Prince William and Princess Kate also didn’t meet with Harry during his brief stay in the UK, with insiders close to the couple speaking to The Daily Beast last month: “Both sides understand each other’s position clearly now. William and Catherine felt completely betrayed by Harry’s memoir. They don’t speak to Harry and Meghan, and they are certainly not about to start when Catherine is at her most vulnerable.”

Another source told the outlet: “William and Kate have accepted it and moved on. Cancer puts things in perspective. William respects his father’s wish to reconcile with his son, but his focus now is on protecting his family from stressful situations.”
