After the success of What If…? season two and the more recently released, X-Men ’97, MCU’s newfound success in the world of animation has given way to several other projects. And as fans are awaiting the release of Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, the director of the series revealed that they have been hired for another secret Marvel animated series.
Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man Director Re-Hired by Marvel for Secret Project
Marvel’s latest animated series like X-Men ’97 have been a success
Kevin Feige is busy and up on his toes it seems, for seeing the recent failures and setbacks that MCU has received, the Marvel Boss seems to be busy remedying everything. While having fewer Marvel projects this year is certainly a good thing, Marvel’s latest projects after The Marvels are being well received.
But the real success for Marvel this year seems to be coming from its animated features. After the incredible success of What If…? season two and X-Men ’97, the superhero verse has other projects on the way too, including another season for both of the aforementioned series (see Marvel and ComicBook).
Yet fans seem to be more excited for the upcoming Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, another animated series part of the MCU but taking place in another timeline. helmed by Liza Singer, the director revealed that they have reportedly been hired by Marvel again for a new secret Marvel series.
ADReturning as an Episodic Director this time, Singer did not reveal which series they were hired for. The announcement has taken netizens by surprise, with many of them making guesses about whether it is for a Marvel series that has already been announced or for an upcoming unannounced project (see X).

Originally titled Spider-Man: Freshman Year, the upcoming MCU series will feature another version of the origin tale of the famous web-slinger. Set in an alternate timeline, but within the MCU, the series will explore Peter Parker’s origin story to becoming Spider-Man.
However, instead of Tony Stark being Parker’s mentor, the series will feature Norman Osborn as the mentor. While Tom Holland won’t be voicing the character, Hudson Thames will be returning to voice the character after voicing him in What If…? (see U.S. Copyright Office Public Records System).

Expected to feature several iconic characters like Daredevil, Doctor Octopus, Tarantula, and more, the series will also replace Parke’s friendship with Ned Leeds and Michelle Jones-Watson. Expected to begin a new era for Spider-Man, the series has Marvel fans geared up for what Kevin Feige has in store for them.
Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man is expected to be released in late 2024 or early 2025.
