Like the rest of us, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle reportedly found out about Kate Middleton’s cancer diagnosis on the news. And while rumors about Harry and Prince William’s feud have existed for years, close friends of the Prince and Princess of Wales revealed information that could point to why the Sussexes were kept out of the loop

According to The Daily Beast, William and Kate do not want any of the “drama” that would come with a visit from Harry and Meghan. Despite not being personally informed about Middleton’s cancer battle (which she revealed last week in a video), the Sussexes still reportedly reached out to Middleton privately, as well as released a statement wishing “health and healing for Kate and the family.” But insiders told the outlet that a reunion between the brothers is not in the cards, even though Harry will be in the U.K. in May for a church service in honor of the 10-year anniversary of the Invictus Games

Catherine and William have been very clear they want peace and quiet for them and the kids,” one friend told The Daily Beast. “A visit from Harry, with all the drama that would bring, would be the opposite of that.”

“They have come to terms with the estrangement from Harry, and are content to let sleeping dogs lie,” another source added.

A rep for Middleton did not respond for comment on whether William plans to meet up with his younger brother, and when asked if the Prince and Princess of Wales responded to the estranged royals’ private message, another insider said, “They have bigger things to worry about

Earlier this week, royal historian Richard Fitzwilliams noted that the way Prince Harry and Markle found out about Middleton’s health crisis “speaks volumes” about their current relationship with the royal family. “It speaks volumes that Harry and Meghan learned of the diagnosis from the news,” Fitzwilliams told TIME. “The brothers reportedly haven’t been in contact for months, and trust has completely broken down.”
