An intriguing blockbuster trade proposal has the Kansas City Chiefs getting even richer on offense by acquiring another veteran stalwart from a rival AFC team.
The defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs have been extremely busy this offseason. They extended All-Pro defensive tackle Chris Jones, traded star corner L’Jarius Sneed to the Tennessee Titans and signed former 1,000-yard wideout Marquise “Hollywood” Brown to a one-year deal.
The Chiefs still have another void to fill on the offensive line, however. Starting tackle Donovan Smith remains a free agent, and right tackle Jawaan Taylor is under pressure to bounce back after a tough first year with his new team.
Bleacher Report’s Maurice Moton proposed one blockbuster trade idea for NFL contenders to shore up their biggest roster voids. Regarding the Kansas City Chiefs, Moton made the case for them to inquire about Jacksonville Jaguars offensive tackle Cam Robinson:
“Kansas City can exercise some patience and draft a left tackle or make an aggressive move to acquire a veteran with starting experience to protect Patrick Mahomes’ blind side. The Chiefs should make a call for Jacksonville Jaguars tackle Cam Robinson, who’s started in 84 games through seven seasons.
The 28-year-old has missed games because of injuries and a suspension, but he’s a solid plug-in play option if Kansas City wants a proven starter. Jacksonville could look to Walker Little to take over at left tackle, which could make Robinson expendable and available for a middle-round pick.”

Having lost Pro Bowl offensive tackle Orlando Brown Jr. to the Cincinnati Bengals in free agency a year ago, the Chiefs signed the aforementioned Jawaan Taylor (Robinson’s former Jacksonville teammate) to a four-year worth $80 million.
So bringing in Robinson would be a nice confidence booster for Taylor. Those two were a quality pass-blocking tandem for Trevor Lawrence in his 2022 breakout season, but they’d be in an even better situation in KC, working alongside Trey Smith, Joe Thuney and Creed Humphrey.
The O-Line Has Been A Major Strength For The Kansas City Chiefs
As every Chiefs fan remembers, the offensive line was absolutely humiliated in the Super Bowl 55 blowout loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. GM Brett Veach has since gone great lengths to ensure that Patrick Mahomes would never be under duress like that again.
In 2021, he traded for Brown, signed Thuney and drafted both Humphrey and Smith. Fast forward three years later, and the Chiefs are celebrating back-to-back Super Bowl championships.
With Humphrey, Smith, Thuney and Taylor still in the fold, the Chiefs’ o-line will continue its dominance in 2024. But when all is said and done, expect Veach to add at least one more starting-caliber tackle for his star quarterback this offseason.
