Jane McDonald has finally spoken out after it was announced she’ll be the host of The British Soap Awards 2025.

The eagerly awaited event returns in 2025 to honour the crème de la crème of UK soap operas, once again gracing ITV1 and ITVX screens this summer.

The previous ceremony in June 2023 raked in an impressive audience of 5.7 million viewers overall, with nearly a million streaming on ITVX and a peak of 3.2 million watching live.

Jane’s triumphant debut as host in 2023 has secured her a second run, where she will inject her unique charm into the nation’s most glittering TV bash.

The prestigious awards are set to take place in London, paying tribute to Britain’s beloved soaps including Coronation Street, EastEnders, Emmerdale, and Hollyoaks. It’s sure to be a fierce competition for the coveted awards, attracting top talent from each soap to strut their stuff on the red carpet.

This star-studded spectacular serves as the year’s biggest event for soap aficionados, with votes cast by an expert judging panel and the public.

On her return as host, a delighted Jane said: “I’m beyond excited to be hosting The British Soap Awards again as I had such a ball hosting the awards last time.”

She continued, “You all know I love my soaps, so to be in a room giving recognition to all these wonderful actors and their fantastic hard work is simply joyous. I can’t wait to get my glittery frock on and celebrate with everyone.”, reports Yorkshire Live.

Gemma John-Lewis, Entertainment Commissioner for ITV, commented on the upcoming British Soaps Awards with great enthusiasm: “The British Soaps Awards are an opportunity to celebrate and shine a light on the incredible actors and production teams that deliver gripping drama and captivating stories throughout the year.”

She also expressed delight at the host announcement, saying, “We’re delighted Jane McDonald, a self proclaimed number one soap fan, is returning to host the awards.”
