Former Loose Women panellist Jane McDonald has spoken out following the confirmation that she will take over presenting duties once again at The British Soap Awards 2025

The British Soap Awards 2025 has confirmed that the legendary Jane McDonald will be returning to host the prestigious event this summer exclusively on ITV1 and ITVX

Set to dazzle viewers during the summer of 2025, The British Soap Awards promise to be the pinnacle celebration of the UK’s most cherished soap operas, broadcasting exclusively on ITV1 and ITVX.

The previous awards night held in June 2023 captivated a staggering 5.7 million total viewers, with nearly one million choosing to stream the event on ITVX, whilst the live overnight broadcast attracted a peak audience of 3.2 million.

The entertainment sensation, Jane McDonald, will reprise her role as host for the event after impressing audiences with her debut at the helm in 2023, ensuring an added touch of glamour to what is undeniably the most dazzling evening of the soap calendar.

Scheduled to occur in London, the ceremony is set to pay tribute to the nation’s favourite soaps: Coronation Street, EastEnders, Emmerdale, and Hollyoaks.

Audiences can anticipate fierce competition with stars from all four major soaps gracing the red carpet in hopes of securing wins in various prestigious categories, reports Yorkshire Live.

In keeping with tradition, The British Soap Awards will acknowledge the past year’s highlights from the soaps, with winners decided by either an expert jury or through public votes.

An excited Jane shared her enthusiasm, stating: “I’m beyond excited to be hosting The British Soap Awards again as I had such a ball hosting the awards last time.”

She went on to profess her love for the genre and the importance of acknowledging television’s hardworking talents, adding: “You all know I love my soaps, so to be in a room giving recognition to all these wonderful actors and their fantastic hard work is simply joyous. I can’t wait to get my glittery frock on and celebrate with everyone.”

Gemma John-Lewis, Entertainment Commissioner for ITV, chimed in: “The British Soaps Awards are an opportunity to celebrate and shine a light on the incredible actors and production teams that deliver gripping drama and captivating stories throughout the year.”

She added, “We’re delighted Jane McDonald, a self proclaimed number one soap fan, is returning to host the awards.”
