The Chase’s Mark ‘The Beast’ Labbett suffered a huge loss on the latest instalment of the ITV quiz show – and fans believe he didn’t take the loss well.
The Chase star Mark Labett suffered a rare defeat after a team of three wiped the floor with him and walked away with a staggering five-figure sum. During Thursday’s visit (April 3) to the ITV studios, Bradley Walsh welcomed four new hopefuls onto the teatime show. The 64-year-old welcomed Rob, Viv, Moira and Jordan onto the programme to put their general knowledge to the test.
The quartet went up against The Beast who certainly brought his A-game to the table for the nail-biting show. First up to the podium was RAF weapons controller Rob who successfully banked £6,000 in the head-to-head round. Following in his winning streak was Viv who made it back with a staggering £7,000 after smashing her cash-builder round.

Next up was Moira who didn’t fail to impress, pocketing a further £7,000 after her intense game with the 59-year-old broadcaster, bringing their total up to £20,000. However, Jordan wasn’t so fortunate. The contestant played for £3,000 opting for the lower amount telling host Bradley Walsh, 64, he was “not a greedy person”.
This was despite saying he and his wife Helena would use any winnings to indulge their love of visiting Disney parks. But despite his best efforst, he failed to best The Beast though and was forced to do the walk of shame off the set.
This left Rob, Viv, and Moira to face the Beast in the final chase. The trio managed to put 20 points on the board in two minutes, but their impressive figure didn’t phase the pro quizzer. Mark boldly declared: “The best chaser gets the best team as usual.”
Despite his confidence, he missed five questions resulting in successful pushbacks which allowed the trio to soar to victory. Overwhelmed with their impressive win, fans flooded to X – formerly known as Twitter – where they commented on the quiz expert’s poor performance.
One user penned: “Mark knew after the first 30 seconds that he was s******…. #TheChase,” as another agreed: “Mark playing half a**** is better than Mark playing seriously #TheChase.”
A third observed: “There came a point early on where it was clear that Mark wasn’t going to win, but rather disappointing there that he visibly seemed to give up …#TheChase#TheChase.”
“Mark, never a good loser, give me humble Anne any day!! #TheChase” a fourth penned as a fifth echoed:”Beast in a right strop, face like a smacked arse #TheChase.”
The Chase airs on weekdays from 5pm on ITV1 or catch up on ITVX.
