Australian actress Isla Fisher and her comedy star husband Sasha Baron Cohen have stunned fans by announcing their marriage has come to an end after being together for more than 20 years – and that they actually split in 2023

Isla Fisher has announced her marriage to Sacha Baron Cohen is over – and that they broke up at the end of last year.

The 48-year-old Australian actress and the 52-year-old British comedy actor tied-the-knot in 2010 and share three children together. But the pair have revealed they quietly separated in 2023 and are now heading for divorce.

Taking to social media on Friday evening, Isla broke the bombshell news – uploading a comedic photograph of herself and Sacha posing together while wearing tennis whites. She revealed in an accompanying statement that their marriage had come to an end – explaining that they had split at an undisclosed time last year and that they will continue to co-parent their three children.

She wrote: “After a long tennis match lasting over twenty years, we are finally putting our rackets down. In 2023 we jointly filed to end our marriage. We have always prioritized our privacy, and have been quietly working through this change.”

Appealing for privacy, she added: “We forever share in our devotion and love for our children. We sincerely appreciate our family’s wishes for privacy.” A minute later, Sacha shared the exact same image and statement via his own Instagram Stories account.

The news came as a shock to fans – with many flooding social media to express their disbelief over the announcement. One fan wrote on X: “Sad to hear about Sacha Baron Cohen and Isla Fisher. Relationships can be challenging, but I hope they both find peace and happiness moving forward.” While another remarked, in a more humorous line: “Liza Minnelli has outlived Sacha Baron Cohen and Isla Fisher’s marriage. They are divorcing after many years together.”

Isla and Sacha first met way back in 2001 – crossing paths at a party in Sydney, Australia, and embarking on their romance soon after. They became engaged in 2004 but didn’t tie-the-knot until 2010 – swapping vows in front of family and friends at a ceremony in Paris, France.

The couple are proud parents to three children – with their eldest daughter, Olive, arriving in 2007, three years after they got engaged. They welcomed a second daughter, named Elula, in August 2010 – while their son, Montgomery, was born in March 2015.

While Isla’s statement revealed the pair had called it quits in 2023, they seem to have been working hard to conceal the truth from fans for months. In February this year, the Australian star suggested everything was fine and dandy between her and her husband and she discussed romantic things they did on Valentine’s Day.

Appearing on the Kelly Clarkson show, the former Home & Away star said: “Every year, Sacha does give me a card that [says] ‘Happy Valentine’s Day from…’ and then there’s a massive question mark. As if anybody else would send me one! As if I have any other Valentines, I’m a mother of three!”
