Kevin Bacon expresses his interest to reprise his role as Sebastian Shaw in X-Men once again.

“I was in one side of the Marvel universe”: Kevin Bacon is Already Open for an MCU Debut and One Upcoming Movie Makes Perfect Sense

Reintroducing villains or anti-heroes from former movies hasn’t really been MCU’s style ever since it was kicked off with Iron Man back in 2008. Characters like Loki and Bucky Barnes have been an exception in Marvel’s Cinematic Universe as they have already redeemed themselves in multiple movies and series over the years.

However, as we witnessed in Spider-Man: No Way Home, Marvel would bring back older characters if the studio feels like it.

Kevin Bacon opens up about making his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut

Many stars have been a part of Marvel’s extended universe over the years, even if they were never a part of Marvel Cinematic Universe. From Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy to the X-Men movies, none of these were a part of the MCU as Marvel Studios did not have the rights for these characters until a few years ago.

In a similar way, one of the most established actors in the industry, Kevin Bacon has never made his debut in Marvel’s Cinematic Universe despite being a part of the X-Men: First Class movie. Bacon portrayed the role of the primary antagonist, Sebastian Shaw, and the leader of the Hellfire Club in the film.

Kevin Bacon recently opened up in an interview with Inverse and talked about how he loves the concept of Multiverse in MCU. He said,

“I was in one side of the Marvel Universe. Do I still have an opportunity to get into the other side? It’s a multiverse, right? I love that stuff.”

Kevin Bacon might reprise his role as Sebastian Shaw in the upcoming X-Men movie. However, that has not been confirmed by Marvel as of yet.

Kevin Bacon reprising his role as Sebastian Shaw would make perfect sense

Marvel isn’t refraining from bringing back older actors and characters in the MCU as already witnessed in movies like Spider-Man: No Way Home. Hugh Jackman will also be reprising his role as Logan aka Wolverine in the upcoming movie, Deadpool & Wolverine.

So, if Marvel decides to make their own version of X-Men movies, the storyline and the characters of X-Men: First Class would be the perfect place to start. X-Men: First Class explained many things about the relationship between Charles Xavier and Erik Lehnsherr aka Magneto, including how they went from being friends to enemies. The film also showed how Charles Xavier established The Xavier Institute for the mutants to learn and control their powers to help humans.

Although popular mutants like Wolverine, Jean Grey, Cyclops, Storm, and many more were not a part of the film, X-Men: First Class still explained a lot about the dynamics of the mutant world and also shed light on why humans view mutants as a threat to the peace and security of the world.

We saw villains who had died in earlier Spider-Man movies reprise their roles in Spider-Man: No Way Home. Perhaps even Kevin Bacon can reprise his role as Sebastian Shaw, if Marvel decides to cast the actor in a future X-Men movie.

X-Men: First Class is currently streaming on Disney+.
