DeHaan appeared in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 playing Harry Osborn. Garfield made his spectacular return with Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man and several other villains in Tom Holland’s 2021 blockbuster, Spider-Man: No Way Home. The movie also opened the door to the possibility of the return of several MCU characters in potential future projects.

Green Goblin was among the potential candidates to make his return in the multiversal film, Spider-Man: No Way Home. Now, 10 years later after his role in the Andrew Garfield starrer movie, DeHaan revealed that he is open to returning to the giant superhero brand. “I mean, never say never,” DeHaan told ScreenRant in a recent exclusive interview.

“But honestly, I haven’t spoken to anyone that has to do with the producer side of Spider-Man in like, 10 years. So I would be shocked to get that phone call. [Chuckles]…I mean, look, I love playing like comic book characters, superheroes, that kind of thing. I would be very interested in returning to that world in some way. But for it to be Spider-Man related, I would just be absolutely shocked, because, again, I haven’t gotten a phone call, an email, anything from those people in 10 years.”

However, the actor hasn’t been summoned by Marvel Boss Kevin Feige or any Sony executive to reprise his role or play any other MCU character. Still, the actor appears to be hopeful for a future scenario.

Sadly, Garfield’s The Amazing Spider-Man 3 was scrapped but the actor’s return in Spider-Man: No Way Home made him wear the Web-Crawler’s suit once again. Fans loved it, and the movie was a nostalgic treat for millions around the globe. After keeping it under wraps about his return to the film following the instruction of Marvel Studios, the actor revealed that he is open to reprising his character. “I mean, yes, definitely open to something if it felt right,” Garfield told Variety.

“Peter and Spider-Man, those characters are all about service, to the greater good and the many. He’s a working-class boy from Queens that knows struggle and loss and is deeply empathetic. I would try to borrow Peter Parker’s ethical framework in that, if there was an opportunity to step back in and tell more of that story, I would have to feel very sure and certain in myself.”

Marc Webb-directed movie, The Amazing Spider-Man did quite well at the box office, grossing over $757 million at the global box office (per The Numbers), the second installment to the franchise grossed $708 million (per The Numbers), which propelled the loss of appetite in Sony to nod for the third movie of the potential trilogy.
