There could be a plan for justice in the coming weeks on Emmerdale, amid a dark new storyline for Joe Tate.

Joe announced his plan to target his uncle Caleb Miligan this week, needing a kidney transplant after a chronic kidney disease diagnosis. Joe plans to obtain a kidney from Caleb without him knowing, but first he needed to know he was a match.

He faked a story about a genetic disease, claiming Caleb was at risk. After paying off Manpreet Sharma’s blackmailer, hiding the fact it was actually him behind her ordeal in a trap, he told her he needed a blood sample from Caleb.

Manpreet felt like she owed Joe for him helping her out and scaring off her fake blackmailer. While torn over whether to do the unthinkable in getting a blood sample from Caleb under false pretences, unaware of Joels’ real plan, Manpreet ended up doing as she was told.

She asked Joe if she’d end up regretting this, risking her career, and he told her she “might save a life”. Of course he was referring to himself, but Manpreet believed she was helping Caleb.

He’d claimed he needed the sample to test it to see if Caleb had the condition from Caleb’s late father Frank Tate, Joe’s grandfather. He said he’d rather not worry Caleb unless he needed to and he didn’t want to expose his own diagnosis, and Manpreet fell for it.

On Thursday night Dr Crowley had the results back after testing the blood sample, and he confirmed to Joe that Caleb was a match. Joe decided that he would be his kidney donor, with Crowley planning the surgery with Caleb none the wiser.

Manpreet also didn’t know the full truth about the results or what Caleb’s fate could be. With Caleb set to go AWOL next week as confirmed in spoilers, fans have been fearing he could face death.

Now the latest episode has hinted at what leads to him being missing, as Joe and Crowley are plotting the transplant. So is Caleb about to be killed off, or might he live to tell the tale? Perhaps the plan doesn’t go ahead and Caleb is fine.

Either way, he’s not to be messed with and he would certainly want revenge if he found out the truth. As for Manpreet, if she found out what the test was really for and that she risked her career for it, she may too want payback

We can’t imagine Caleb being happy with her when he finds out what she’s done, given he knows full well she took the blood test. But could it see the pair unite to get payback for being wrong by Joe?

Might the pair band together to destroy him for once and for all, whether the transplant goes ahead or not? Nothing is confirmed, but it would certainly be good to see the pair use what Joe has done to them to take him down!
