ITV’s Dancing On Ice captured Torvill and Dean’s tearful final performance, as the skating icon’s kick off their farewell tour.

In an emotional farewell that brought the studio audience to tears, Dancing On Ice has captured the final performance of skating legends Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean.

The Olympic champions prepare to hang up their skates after a spectacular half-century on ice and their last act on the ITV show has set the stage for their upcoming UK arena tour, aptly titled Our Last Dance.

The pair graced the Dancing On Ice rink last weekend for one final performance, introducing a completely new routine set to premiere during the series finale next month. A source from the show shared the audience’s surprise, telling The Sun: “No one in the audience had a clue they were about to see such a historic moment.

“Jayne and Chris put on an incredible performance and proved they still had that magical chemistry on the ice after five decades,” the source added.

The emotional weight of the moment was palpable, with the source adding: “It was really emotional to watch and there were plenty of tears in the studio. It was an absolute privilege and something we’ll never see again.”

This momentous routine was filmed in advance due to time constraints, an insider confirmed. Earlier this year, the medal-winning duo announced their decision to step away from competitive skating, a move that Christopher, 66, described as timely. “We’ve been doing it a long time and people our age shouldn’t be doing it now, so we’re just happy that we can still do it,” he explained.

Speaking to The Sun, Christopher said: “This will be our last live skate on here on Dancing On Ice because we’re doing our final tour this year.

“So once we’ve finished our last skate on the tour we won’t be performing again.”

And he confessed they’re looking forward to well-deserved break after decades of skating together.

Asked how he feels ahead of skating for a final time, Christopher said: “Ready!

“We’ve been doing it a long time and people our age shouldn’t be doing it now, so we’re just happy that we can still do it.”

Despite retiring from performances, the iconic pair will not be leaving the show entirely; both Jayne, 67, and Christopher have confirmed they will return as judges next year. Following their final commitments on ice, Jayne plans to enjoy some downtime in Spain with her husband Phil Christensen, while Christopher and his partner Karen will explore the UK in their new motorhome.

Torvill and Dean first teamed up in 1975 after winning the British Championships and quickly rose to prominence. Their storied career includes a pivotal performance at the 1984 Sarajevo Olympics where they captured gold with their legendary Bolero routine. The duo made a notable return to amateur competition in 1994, securing a bronze medal.
