Dancing on Ice’s Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean skated for the final time on live TV during the series finale, insisting they are now “too old” to perform.
A Dancing on Ice professional has addressed speculation that the ITV ice-skating competition is being ‘axed’. The rumours come after Olympic champions Jane Torvill and Christopher Dean—who judge the TV show—hung up their skates for the last time during the series finale. While they will no longer perform on the show, they will remain on the judging panel alongside Diversity’s Ashley Banjo and former Strictly Come Dancing professional Oti Mabuse. The pair officially retired from ice skating in 1998 after winning 16 gold medals at different international competitions, including their famous gold at the 1984 Sarajevo Winter Olympics.
One professional ice skater who joined the ITV show in 2023 during series 15 has had their say on whether or not Dancing on Ice will return. It was reported by numerous outlets that the long-running show faces being ‘axed’ amid declining ratings.

Speaking exclusively to Express Online, Colin Grafton said he’s ‘heard nothing at all’ about the future of Dancing on Ice. “That’s the honest truth. If I had something, I would tell you, but no, it’s one of those things I don’t think anyone knows yet.”
Colin was then quizzed if he would be sad if the show went on a hiatus, to which he replied: “Of course, I’d be sad for sure because I love to do it every year, and it’s such a big part of my life now. However, if it needs to go on hiatus and needs to be revamped, hopefully, they will give me a call when it’s back.”
Express Online have previously contacted ITV for comment.
The American figure skater was partnered with Traitors star Mollie Pearce during the 2025 series. The pair were forced to take a month off training when she suffered a nasty injury during training and sprained her wrist. She was the sixth celebrity to be voted off the show, narrowly missing out on the semi-finals.

Ahead of the 2025 series, Torvill and Dean announced that they will be skating live for the final time. According to The Mirror, Christopher, 66, said: “This will be our last live skate – here on ‘Dancing on Ice’. We’re doing our last tour this year as well so once we’ve finished our last skate on tour, we won’t be performing again. There are lots of endings.”
Jayne, 67, said: “Dancing on Ice feels like our baby because we were approached by ITV in the early days and we came up with this format together of how it might work. We didn’t know much about TV but they didn’t know how skating works so together, the programme developed and it’s great that we were there from the beginning.”
