Former New York Jets and Buffalo Bills head coach Rex Ryan could be on the verge of a return to the NFL as he has reportedly interviewed for the vacant defensive coordinator post in Dallas.

The Cowboys are searching for a new DC following the departure of Dan Quinn, who is now the head coach of the Washington Commanders. And, according to CBS Sports’ Josina Anderson, Ryan has been interviewed for the job.

“New: I’m told former #Jets and #Bills head coach Rex Ryan interviewed for the #Cowboys vacant defensive coordinator job, per sources,” she reported via X on Wednesday morning.

Ryan hasn’t worked as a coach since the 2016 season, having coached the Bills that year, as well as the season before. He was also the Jets HC from 2009-2014.

The 61-year-old helped the Baltimore Ravens win a Super Bowl as a defensive line coach in 2000.
