The Colorado Buffaloes are reportedly set to bring in an NFL assistant coach to serve as the new defensive coordinator under Deion Sanders.
According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Cincinnati Bengals secondary coach Robert Livingston met with “Prime Time” on Thursday. Rapoport added it’s “expected” that Colorado will hire Livingston as their new defensive coordinator:
Livingston has spent eight years as the Bengals’ secondary coach. He’s made a name for himself under Cincy DC Lou Anarumo, who has quickly garnered a reputation as one of the NFL’s best defensive masterminds.
Despite an excellent year from quarterback Shedeur Sanders, the Buffaloes finished 4-8 on the season due largely to the defensive struggles. The Buffaloes allowed 34.8 points per game, which placed them 124th among 133 schools.
Sanders’ Buffaloes were the top story in the first half of last season, jumping out to a surprising 3-0 start that was headlined by a season-opening victory over the TCU Horned Frogs. But the Buffaloes struggled mightily as the schedule got tougher, dropping eight of their final nine games to finish 4-8 on the year.
