Although Keanu Reeves has been an enthusiastic reader for a long time, growing up he had been diagnosed with Dyslexia. For those unversed, it is a learning disorder where the person has difficulty reading. As Reeves once shared the disorder kept him from being a good student. He opened up by saying,

“Because I had trouble reading, I wasn’t a good student,”
But despite everything, his love for reading books and plays in addition to the acting classes he took ultimately helped him with his acting career.

The John Wick actor shared that his favorite author was Shakespeare and others like him who were known for their excellent storytelling ability. These experiences not only helped him become a great actor but struggles also made him more humble despite his success.

Apart from the life struggles that Keanu Reeves faced growing up, he also had many in his adult life. One instance would be the death of his close friend and fellow actor River Phoenix back in 1993. Phoenix died of a drug overdose while filming My Own Private Idaho. Some years after that, Reeves had to deal with another loss.

In 1999, when he was together with ex-girlfriend Jennifer Syme, their baby came out a stillborn. And two years later Syme got killed in a car accident.  Although at the time the two had already broken up way before.

But all these deaths of the people he was close with undoubtedly impacted his mental well-being. Nonetheless, The Matrix star was able to heal and come back as kind and genuine as he always is.
