The start of the NFL scouting combine tends to coincide with an increase in trade rumors, with free agency just around the corner.

The Arizona Cardinals do not want rumors coming their way at all.

On Monday and completely out of left field, the Cardinals’ official X account made an eye-popping post about Kyler Murray.

“Our franchise QB,” the Cardinals tweeted.

The announcement, featuring three pictures of Murray, comes a day after the Cardinals used their official Facebook account to convey a similar message: “There’s no doubt, Kyler’s our guy,” was the caption to a linked story about Arizona’s offseason QB plans.

After recovering from an ACL injury, Kyler finished the 2023 season strong as he helped the team stay competitive in a 2-3 stretch to close the season.

The Cardinals are simply trying to get ahead of any potential rumors surrounding their franchise quarterback before the draft season.

However, it should be noted they had a similar tweet back in 2019.
“Y’all are having fun with speculation, but…” the Cardinals tweeted about Josh Rosen in 2019.
The Cardinals went on to draft Murray No. 1 overall in 2019 to replace Rosen.

Murray was the top overall draft pick in 2019 and finished his first season with 3,722 passing yards and 20 touchdowns, earning NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year honors.

In the 2023 season, he appeared in eight games and finished with 1,799 passing yards, ten passing touchdowns, and five interceptions to go with 44 carries for 244 rushing yards and three rushing touchdowns.
