Prince Harry is set to return to the UK in a matter of weeks to attend a celebration of the Invictus Games, but it seems his wife Meghan Markle is unlikely to join him

Prince Harry has been vocal about his plans to reunite with the Royal Family after years of feuding and it looks like he now has the perfect opportunity.

The Duke of Sussex is due to return to the UK next month to attend a special event marking the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games. The special service will take place at St. Paul’s Cathedral on May 8, but it seems Harry’s wife Meghan Markle won’t be joining him as her attendance is still “to be confirmed”.

Many fans will be wondering exactly what Harry will get up to during his visit. Here, we’ve taken a look at everything we know so far.

It seems unlikely Meghan will be joining Harry next month as her attendance at the event is still “to be confirmed”. Royal expert Charles Rae even suggested she “won’t set foot in the UK ever again.”

He told The Sun: “I’m of the opinion that Megan won’t set foot in the UK ever again. I just don’t think she wants her to have anything to do at all with this country.”

His comments were echoed in Omid Scobie’s explosive book Endgame. The author claimed Meghan “never felt at home” in the UK and suggested she “never wants to set foot again in England”. He also claimed she decided to skip the King’s Coronation last May because she refuses to “dive back into the soap opera of the court”.

Meghan has made very few return trips to the UK since leaving the Royal Family and moving to the US. Her last visit was in 2022 to attend Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral, however, she she did not return for King Charles III’s coronation last year, and Harry was forced to attend alone.

Questions still remain over whether Meghan and Harry’s children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, will join their dad when he comes to the UK. It’s been reported that Harry’s security issue has made him feel as though he can’t bring his family to the UK.

According to The Telegraph, unless Harry can overturn a ruling by the Home Office that he is not immediately entitled to police protection when in the UK, he does not feel he can bring Meghan, Archie and Lilibet to his home country.

Harry had been taking legal action over the February 2020 decision of the Executive Committee for the Protection of Royalty and Public Figures (Ravec) after being told he would no longer be given the “same degree” of publicly-funded protection when in the country. The court was told that Harry believes his children, Archie and Lilibet cannot “feel at home” in the UK if it is “not possible to keep them safe” there.

In a ruling issued in February, retired High Court judge Sir Peter Lane rejected the duke’s case that he was “singled out” and treated “less favourably” by the decision and concluded Ravec’s approach was not irrational nor procedurally unfair. Harry has announced he will appeal the decision.

Since stepping away from the Royal Family, Harry has developed a tense relationship with his older brother Prince William. The Duke of Sussex slammed the Prince of Wales in his memoir Spare and claims William grabbed me by the collar, ripping my necklace, and he knocked me to the floor” during one heated row.

Despite their frosty relationship, royal expert Tom Quinn believes Harry will have no choice but to meet with his brother when he returns to the UK. He previously told The Mirror: “Barring a major upset, Harry will certainly return to the UK for the Invictus Games in May – it’s his baby.

“If he decides not to come, it will take some explaining, because everyone will assume it’s because he doesn’t want the awkwardness of having to meet his brother or having to choose not to meet him.”

Tom continued: “Not coming would be worse than finding some sort of compromise where Harry sees William for 10 minutes or comes up with some reason why he doesn’t have time to see his brother and his father and has to get back to the States quickly to be with his children. But no one is going to be fooled by these excuses.”

King Charles visit

It’s likely Harry will reunite with his father King Charles when he returns to the UK next month, having recently reunited with the monarch earlier this year. The Duke of Sussex rushed to the UK to be with his father after Charles was diagnosed with cancer.

The pair enjoyed a 30-minute meeting, with Harry later expressing his gratitude to have been able to reunite with his father. Speaking to Good Morning America, he said: “Look I love my family. The fact that I was able to get on a plane and go and see him and spend any time with him I’m grateful for that.”

Harry also opened up about his plans to return to the UK. “So my family and my life in California is as it is. I have got other trips planned. That would take me through the UK or back to the UK, so you know, I’ll stop in and see my family as much as I can,” he said.
