Aljaz Skorjanec Jokes About ‘Too Many’ WhatsApp Groups and Reflects on Strictly Come Dancing Journey

Strictly Come Dancing star Aljaz Skorjanec has opened up about the overwhelming number of WhatsApp group chats he is part of,
admitting that he sometimes finds it difficult to keep up with all the messages.
The professional dancer, who returned to Strictly in 2024 after a five-year break,

made the lighthearted confession during an appearance on Lorraine alongside his wife, Janette Manrara.

The couple, who are currently preparing for their A Night to Remember tour, joined host Christine Lampard on ITV’s morning show to discuss their latest project.

During the chat, Aljaz reflected on his Strictly experience, his near-win in the latest series, and how he balances family life with his demanding career.
‘It’s Too Much!’ – Aljaz on WhatsApp Overload
During the interview, Christine Lampard brought up how the Strictly cast often describe themselves as a “substitute family” due to the amount of time they spend together. She joked that managing the various WhatsApp group chats within the Strictly team must feel like a “full-time job.”
Aljaz laughed and responded:
“Look, Strictly is a quick turnaround job as it is, even more so when you’re involved in about eight or nine different WhatsApp groups. I cannot follow. One of my favourite things about that chat is actually a mute thing. I shouldn’t be saying that on TV!”
His wife Janette Manrara chuckled alongside him as he admitted that keeping track of all the conversations can be overwhelming, adding:
“It’s just too much for me.”
His comments resonated with many viewers, as the struggle of managing multiple group chats is something many people can relate to.

Aljaz’s Triumphant Return to Strictly
After five years away from the ballroom competition, Aljaz made a highly anticipated comeback to Strictly Come Dancing in 2024. He was paired with Love Island star Tasha Ghouri, and together, they put on a series of show-stopping performances that took them all the way to the final.
Although they narrowly missed out on the Glitterball trophy, which went to comedian Chris McCausland and professional dancer Dianne Buswell, Aljaz and Tasha still had their moment of victory. The duo won the Strictly Come Dancing tour, which took place earlier this year, giving them a well-deserved championship title.
Janette Manrara on Aljaz’s Return to Strictly
Janette Manrara, who now co-hosts Strictly: It Takes Two, expressed her joy at seeing her husband back on the show. Speaking on the Monday Mile podcast with Aimee Fuller, she shared how emotional she felt watching Aljaz perform once again.
“I’m so happy he’s back, I think the whole country is. He’s back where he belongs. He shines on that dance floor. He loves to teach.”

Janette admitted that seeing him dance with Tasha during the live show brought tears to her eyes.
“After he finished his dance with Tasha, I got teary-eyed, I got emotional. It was just so beautiful to see him back doing what he loves.”
Balancing Career and Family Life
Beyond their professional commitments, Aljaz and Janette are also navigating parenthood. The couple welcomed their 18-month-old daughter Lyra last year and are now juggling their dance careers while raising a young child.
As they gear up for their upcoming A Night to Remember tour, the couple shared how they rely on family support to help them manage their busy schedules.
Janette explained:
“It is such a puzzle! But luckily, we have Aljaz’s mum, my mum, and Aljaz’s sister. They, between them, take turns flying over. They’re really on standby for us at all times.”
She emphasized the importance of family, adding:
“It really does take a village, and we’re so grateful that we’ve got family, even if they are abroad, that take the time to come and support and help us so we can carry on doing what we’re doing.”

What’s Next for Aljaz and Janette?
As Aljaz continues to celebrate his return to Strictly and the success of his latest season, he and Janette are preparing to take A Night to Remember on the road. The tour promises to bring a mix of dance, music, and storytelling, giving fans a unique glimpse into their journey both on and off the dance floor.
With Strictly Come Dancing always keeping fans on their toes, the question remains—will Aljaz continue competing in the next season, or will he shift his focus to new dance projects? Whatever the case, his return has already been a huge hit with fans, and his future in the dance world looks brighter than ever.
