There’s a chance that one of the Kansas City Chiefs’ top offensive players may suit up in Super Bowl 58 after all.

As previously reported, superstar guard Joe Thuney is expected to miss Super Bowl 58 against the San Francisco 49ers as he continues to recover from a pectoral injury. But according to NFL Network’s James Palmer, there’s still “a shot” of the three-time Super Bowl champion suiting up for the game.

Thuney suffered the pec injury in the Chiefs’ Divisional Round playoff win over the Buffalo Bills. The 31-year-old Thuney missed the team’s AFC Championship Game victory against the Baltimore Ravens.

The Chiefs’ offensive line has been a great strength this season, allowing just two sacks on Patrick Mahomes through their first three playoff games. And both of those sacks came in the AFC title game.

Last year, Kansas City’s rock-solid offensive line didn’t allow a single sack to the Philadelphia Eagles in the Super Bowl. Thuney and company held off a prolific Philly defense that racked up 70 sacks during the regular season.

We’ll have more details on Thuney’s injury status as they become available.
