The TV star, 36, continued working on air through much of her third trimester, but recently revealed some of the harshest comments she had received from viewers about her growing baby bump. In a heartbreaking Instagram post this Tuesday, she shared the news of her son’s birth last week.

Just 15 hours before she gave birth to her first child with her husband, Cameron Friscia, she was diagnosed with breast cancer. “Last week, I became a mother. Just 15 hours before I went into labour, I was told I had breast cancer,” she explained. “The doctors have diagnosed it as stage zero and are optimistic that it hasn’t spread.”

Kat described the whirlwind of events on the day of her diagnosis, noting how she used humor to help cope with the overwhelming news. “I was already more than a week past my due date and completely focused on trying everything to get the baby out,” she said. “By the afternoon, I found myself juggling appointments, cracking jokes about how to get rid of the cancer, all while waddling around.”

The Fox News star said she was more than a week past due when she gave birth and recalled the chaotic day as “not chill.” She included jokes about her hectic day in the news of her health scare. “I asked all the questions I could, including if I could get a copy of my tumor ultrasound to put on the fridge next to the ultrasound of my baby,” she said.

Kat then revealed she went into labor in the middle of the night before rushing to the hospital to meet her baby boy. She also told her followers that doctors recommended she get a double mastectomy as soon as possible. “These next three months of maternity leave are going to look a lot different than I’d anticipated, and I’m still getting used to my new reality,” she said.

“I’m lucky that we found the cancer so early; I’m lucky to be my son’s mom. I mean, I know I’m biased, but the little dude absolutely rules – and not just because he might have saved my life.” The new mum concluded her announcement with a toast to “finding humor and hope on the toughest days.”

Kat famously worked through the final days of her pregnancy which led to cruel intrusive questions and horrible about her baby bump. On February 17, she clapped back at the hateful comments about her body in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter. At the time, she wrote: “Hi everyone! I am under the close care of a doctor, and I promise that both of us know and care far more about my health and the health of my own baby than any random online stranger does from just seeing me on TV.

“Although I’m sure much of it is well-intentioned, I don’t need to be bombarded with comments about how my belly looking this way or that way CLEARLY means I will be needing this or that procedure. Or how I shouldn’t be at work, or concerns about my ‘amniotic fluid’ or any other wildly personal medical thing,” she added.
